NORTH STAR

North Star is the abstract product of working on Blooms for the last few years. This sculptural form is hands down one of my favorites and something I’ve clearly obsessed with. Over the next few years, I will be making various interpretations of this form, but most especially a 22’ version for public site-specific settings as well as a 9’ indoor version intended for interactive gallery experiences.

The 22’ North Star will be a site-specific landmark sculpture focused on the connect between the art and the viewer. Of course, North Star will be integrated with state-of-the-art lights but will also have multiple LiDAR Cameras that will track energy movement around the sculpture. Using sound, light, and data; we will create multiple levels of interaction that encourage the viewer to play, explore and discover with North Star. Our goal is to create something unique that has the ability to bring you back and have a completely different experience.

The 9’ North Star will be a traveling indoor gallery experience that much more personal and only intended for groups of 5-8 people. North Star will be suspended from the ceiling with a modular anchor, allowing the sculpture to move freely. This allows North Star to truly interact with the viewer through light, sound and movement. This whole experience is predicated on the idea North Star is a sentient star from an unknown place. This being has a wide variety of emotions and is designed to act like a magnet and pull the viewer in to explore.
