The Solaris Project is a larger-than-life sentient Sunflower that is bestowed with many unique qualities.
“SOLARIS” is a three-headed colossal sunflower that has the ability to draw and store energy from natural light as well as create wonderful light displays, attracting all that is near.
This three-headed flower is a hybrid fusion between a Sunflower and the native Yellow Milkwort. Solaris is designed to be a future forward-thinking sculpture, using over 122 light systems as well as state-of-the-art LiDAR Cameras. This organism is conscious; having the ability to detect any energy source that comes near. Using its breathtaking displays, Solaris invites all to come play, explore and discover.
Working hand in hand with our award winning partners at EOS Lightmedia, we have designed multiple light arrays and sequences that create breathtaking colors, washing and melting with eachother. These flowers will be quite unique and sophisticated in regards to lighting systems. The lighting systems are state-of-the-art, intended for stadiums, building facades, and concerts. With numerous sources of lights, we are taking the lighting experience to a whole new level. At night these sunflowers will be undeniable. Using data as a tool, ensures the light display never gets stale or stagnant.

Solaris will have many unique qualities that set it apart. Using Data and Sensors, we are able to create one-on-one moments with you and Solaris. Every time you visit, it will be a new experience.
Each flower will contain a state-of-the-art LiDAR Camera directed towards the viewer. These cameras register energy / energy blobs. Depending on how you stand, where you stand, how you move, Solaris will respond to you. Whether you are alone, or with a friend or even a crowd of people, Solaris will want to interact with you, encouraging you to play, explore and discover.
Solaris will be a landmark sculpture that will grow overtime. Using the data from our cameras we will be able to create algorithms that are constantly creating a new experience. Solaris will also have an administrator program which will allow the client to chose and select what kind of of lighting effects they desire. Whether its the 4th of July, or Awareness Programs within the community, Solaris is able to reflect and connect with the city.
